May Means Spring Cleaning Day In The Village of Mamaroneck Is Back

May 14 is the day to get Mamaroneck spic-and-span just in time for summer. Volunteers will pick up litter at a dozen locations around town.

MAMARONECK, NY — Village residents won't be slowing down now that Earth Day is behind us. Caring for the local environment will continue in full force with Mamaroneck's annual Clean and Green Day on May 14 (rain date on Sunday).

Update: The Village of Mamaroneck Clean & Green Day originally scheduled for May 7 has been rescheduled to May 14.

Volunteers will choose one or more of a dozen public areas in town to pick up litter and beautify neighborhoods. While the clean-up day is sure to be a lot of work, there will be some fun to be had as well.

Opening remarks at the Marine Education Center at Harbor Island Park will start at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed with the distribution of supplies, a raffle and giveaways of native flower seeds and compost. The Marine Education Center will also be open for all to enjoy viewing the animals in the tanks and there will be a Shack HI Food Truck nearby to purchase snacks as well.

Volunteer teams will then go to their clean-up locations on foot or by car. Trash bags, gloves and tools will be available for use, but volunteers are also welcome to bring their own favorite yard tools. Site clean-up should be over by noon.
