Music Of Disney Comes To Larchmont, But Just For 1 Magical Evening

LARCHMONT, NY — There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the free "Disney Delights at Dusk" concert at Constitution Park in Larchmont, but some of us are just hoping the famed Magic Kingdom can help break a curse.

Some of the best musicians in the world come to New York to hone their craft, perhaps find fame and fortune — the rest of us reap the benefits.

This Thursday kicks off the Larchmont Music Academy's free Thursday Evening Summer Sunset Serenades Family Concert Series with the enchanting melodies of Disney. The talented faculty of the hometown institution with a global reputation promised a magical journey through your favorite Disney tunes.

The opportunity to sing along to beloved classics and rediscover the magic of Disney with family and friends has neighbors circling the date on their calendars for an evening filled with nostalgia, joy, and the promise of unforgettable memories.

The concert will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees can pack a picnic or stop by a local restaurant for a pre-packed picnic, before enjoying the summer night.

There's just one problem.

When this Patch reporter is looking forward to an outdoor event as much as I am looking forward to this concert, then a rainout is almost guaranteed. The promise of an evening in the park enjoying the songs that shaped my life, and bring a smile to my child's face, performed by the adroit musicians that help bring an unparalleled vigor to the village, will almost certainly set the weather gods against me.

But, the forecast looks good. Maybe the enchantment of Tinker Bell will finally break the curse. Or maybe wishing upon a star will save the day. Or maybe I just need to sit this one out and take one for the team, so that families without the burden of a rain-soaked malediction can enjoy an unforgettable performance under cloudless skies.
