Port Condition Whiskey Declared For Long Island Sound: USCG

Boaters and coastal residents are preparing for hazardous weather, including storm surges, high waves & strong winds from Henri.

LONG ISLAND SOUND, NY — A Hurricane Port Condition Whiskey is set when weather advisories indicate sustained gale force winds from a tropical or hurricane force storm are predicted to make landfall at the port within 72 hours.

As of 6:15 a.m. Friday, a storm surge watch from the National Weather Service is in effect for Westchester County and parts of Connecticut. According to the National Hurricane Center, the impacts over the next seven days remain highly dependent on the development and track of Henri.

A tropical storm watch remains in effect for much of the Sound Shore region, including Southern Westchester, Southern Fairfield, Northern Nassau and Southern Nassau.
