Westchester County Beaches, Pools Ready For Summer 2025 Opening Day

After Memorial Day, the beaches will be open weekends and holidays only until Sunday, June 22, when the summer schedule goes into effect.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Get ready to grab the sunscreen and head to one of Westchester County's beaches during Memorial Day weekend.

The county announced that Glen Island Beach in New Rochelle, Playland Beach in Rye, and Croton Point Beach in Croton-on-Hudson will open on a pre-season basis May 24, 25 and 26, weather permitting.

After the Memorial Day weekend, the beaches will be open weekends and holidays only through Sunday, June 22, when the full summer schedule begins.

Starting Friday, June 27 through Labor Day on Monday, September 1, Glen Island and Playland Beaches will open daily, while Croton Point Beach will be open Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Hours will be 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., with last entry at 6 p.m. Entry and parking fees apply. Proof of Westchester County residency, either a Westchester County Park Pass or a New York State driver's license showing a valid Westchester County address, is required for Glen Island.

Effective Friday, June 27, through Labor Day, the five county-owned pools will open for the summer season. County pools are located at Playland Pool in Rye, Saxon Woods Park in White Plains, Sprain Ridge Park and Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, and Willson's Woods Park in Mount Vernon. Hours will be 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., with last entry at 6 p.m. Entry and parking fees apply. Proof of Westchester County residency, either a Westchester County Park Pass or a New York State driver's license showing a valid Westchester County address, is required for all pools, except for Playland.

"Summer is our busiest—and most exciting—time of year. Our pools and beaches are open, and our wide variety of countless activities and programs throughout the County are packed with fun. I can't wait to see our parks filled with families, friends and smiles," Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, Kathy O'Connor, said.

Family Fun Days and DJ Days, at the pools and beaches, will return for 2025, along with the Sand Art Contest at Glen Island. Dates will be announced in the future. In addition, Saxon Woods will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and will launch a 100-Lap Challenge and other activities to mark the milestone. While participation is free, admission and parking rules apply.
