Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes extend an official Hempstead Town welcome to the athletes and spectators attending the 4th Annual MacArthur High School Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, April 6 at 9:30 a.m.
Student-athletes from 35 high schools across Long Island will be competing in this premier event.
“Councilman Hudes and I will be among the spirited fans cheering on these outstanding track athletes,” Murray said. “Our township is a proud host of the MacArthur Meet and we commend the school administrators and athletic department officials who support the event and promote its success.”
The track meet is sponsored by the Mercury Club, the parent booster club for the MacArthur High School Winter and Spring Track & Field and Cross Country teams. The generosity of local businesses and the involvement of parent volunteers are key ingredients in the meet’s popularity.
“With a proud athletic tradition, Levittown is the perfect site for this annual competition,” Hudes said. “Beyond the wonderful talent on display, the sportsmanship exhibited by all the athletes makes for a wonderful spirit that is shared by everyone.”
“I invite all of our Levittown neighbors to come on out to MacArthur High School and cheer on their hometown heroes,” Murray concluded. “It’ll be exciting to see how Levittown’s finest stack up against track stars from other schools and I hope you’ll join us !”
