Cops: Man Stole Expensive Necklace, Bag in Massapequa
The Suffolk County man swiped more than $1,600 in merchandise from Sears and TJ Maxx in May and June, police said.

A Copiague man was charged Thursday with swiping expensive accessories from two stores in Massapequa, according to Nassau County Police.
In three separate incidents in May, Michael Marte, 28, went to TJ Maxx, located at 5500 Sunrise Highway, and stole Michael Kors pocketbooks, cops said. The bags were valued at a total of $1,422.89, officials said.
On June 3, Marte asked to see a gold necklace at Sears, located at 600 Sunrise Highway, cops said. When the salesperson handed him the necklace, Marte fled, police said. The necklace was valued at $1,124.99, authorities said.

Marte was taken into custody in his home Thursday and charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny. He will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
