Division Musicians Hit High Notes

Four of Levittown School District’s music ensembles received high ratings at the New York State School Music Educators Association Major Organization Festival at Hofstra University.

The Division Avenue High School band received a gold rating, while the orchestra was awarded a silver rating. In addition, the Division Avenue High School vocal jazz ensemble received a bronze rating, while a silver rating was given to Salk Middle School’s seventh-grade band.

During the NYSSMA Major Organization Evaluation Festival, each ensemble is evaluated by a panel of judges, who write constructive comments and score in specific areas of performance. Each ensemble is then given a rating of either certificate of participation, bronze, silver, gold and gold with distinction.
