‘Service, Generosity, And Community Pride:’ Levittown Bowling Alley Receives State Award
Levittown Lanes has been family owned and operated for over 70 years, state officials say.

LEVITTOWN, NY. — For Frank and Joseph Mormando, a commitment to community has been part of doing business. The father-son duo run Levittown Lanes, the 36-lane bowling alley on Tanners Lane that offers leagues, parties, tournaments and, as celebrated in late December, a long list of community contributions. Those contributions earned the bowling alley a New York State Empire Award, announced Dec. 31, in honor of the volunteer and community service initiatives repeatedly undertaken by its proprietors.
In an announcement of the award, State Senator Steve Rhoads’ office said the bowling alley has served as a gathering place for, “ families, friends, and neighbors, strengthening the social fabric of the community while maintaining a legacy of excellence.” In addition to hosting gatherings, however, Rhoads’ office said the Mormandos host fundraisers for community organizations, donate bowling passes to local groups and volunteer in several community events throughout the year. Included in those events are holiday fairs, Thanksgiving food drives and back-to-school backpack collections.
According to Rhoads’ office, the commitment to these charitable causes has not only been the main reason the Mormandos received the award, it has been a tangible difference-maker in Levittown.

“Its commitment goes well beyond business operations and reflects a deep-rooted dedication to service,” Rhoads’ office said of the alley Wednesday. “Their willingness to step in wherever help is needed has made a lasting difference for countless families.”
The Empire Award is given out by the New York State Senate to businesses that embody values like community leadership and civic responsibility, going above and beyond to help the people in their communities. According to the State Senator, those values are exemplified in spades at Levittown Lanes.
