Election Signs: Time to Take Them Down
Share your thoughts in our Soapbox - Gov't Matters open blog.

Many people have been upset about the number of signs that have remained up after elections conclude, stating that it is the equivalent of litter.
Now that Election Day is over, what do you think is a reasonable time frame for all the political campaign camps to start cleaning up those yard and pole signs used in the campaign? One week? 48 hours?
We posted the above question on Levittown Patch's Facebook page and got the following comments:
- Jessica Nofi: Should start the next morning. The politicians all passed laws that we can't put up yard sale signs (which are much less offensive on the eyes) yet they can keep the sometimes huge signs up - and usually not even take them down.
- Rich Lockman: I would say within a week after Election Day is reasonable.
- Kegjam Jarjokian: There is a lot so I would give them three days max.
- Claire Kobrin: Only republican signs ALL OVER THE PLACE every year. They rarely get removed and foul up the landscape year-round.
- Michele Lebau-Carroll: ASAP and let me tell you how I can go on and on about the integrity of the voting poll this year. A husband and wife sharing the same cubicle. Lights so dim I could barely read the selections.
- Maria Snjezana: Remove the trash ASAP! And start ticketing for littering!
- Kerry Boyle M: The day after!
- Joseph Batewell: How about starting today?
- Barbara Ballantyne Montelione: Now.
- Lou Stein: Now along with the old garage sale signs!
- Jennifer Urban-Koehler: Now!
- Scott Michels: Right away or fine in 24 hours.
- Patti Stillwaggon: Immediately. Fine for those still up tomorrow!
- Jake Blazejewicz: They should remove them the day after the election and must all be removed within 48 hours. If not, they should be fined and not allowed to put up signs in future elections. That will make sure they are removed as the politicians want their gravy trains to keep running.
- Brenda Kelly-Hinshaw: Today!
- Victoria Kalt-Waterman: They can start today and not stop till they are done!
- Deborah LoPiccolo Poppe: Yesterday when the polls closed.
- Janet Giglio Picone: The day after the election!!!
