Island Trees HS Class of '62 Donates Gift and Scholarship

The class recently held their 50th high school reunion.

Submitted by the Island Trees School District.

On the occasion of their 50th high school reunion, members of the Island Trees High School class of 1962 went back for a tour of their school and have pledged to donate a new display case for high school clubs and a scholarship for a deserving senior.

Classmates were greeted in the main lobby by reunion organizer, Tina Yalen and her committee. The bell rang and the “assembly” began.  After brief comments on the changes and improvements made at the high school over the last 50 years, the tour began guided by Donna Donahue, ITHS Alumni Coordinator.

The class was indeed thrilled and amazed by some of the improvements of the school from the robotics and computer rooms to the artificial turf and outdoor lighting of the athletic field.

“Island Trees, you’ve taken good care of our school!” Tina Yalen commented.

The evening culminated with a pizza party at Domenico’s followed by a formal reunion celebration over the weekend.

Thanks to the class of 1962, a new display case has recently been purchased and a scholarship established. Island Trees High School Principal Nicholas Grande proudly accepted a plaque from class member and Levittown resident, Tim Courtney, which will hang over the new display case.

Mr. Grande and the students of Island Trees sincerely thank the class of 1962 for such thoughtful and generous donations.
