Island Trees HS Students Selected for NYSSMA All-State

Two students will represent Island Trees at the conference, to be held in November in Rochester.

Janice Hur and Morgan Petry, 11th graders at Island Trees High School, have been selected to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Conference this November, held in Rochester.

Hur, achieving a perfect score at the NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival this past spring, was chosen as a flute alternate.  Petry was chosen to feature her original electronic music composition at the Electronic Music Composers Showcase.

"These are prestigious honors as Janice and Morgan were among those chosen from thousands of students throughout the entire state of New York," said Susan Oliveto, HS Music Department Chairperson. "We are very proud of Janice and Morgan’s accomplishments in music and that they will be representing Island Trees at the NYSSMA conference! Bravo!"
