Story by Liz Sobel.
Throughout Abbey Lane Elementary School in the Levittown School District, students decorated paper puzzle-piece cutouts to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.
Each classroom also read Joanna L. Keating-Velasco’s “A Is for Autism, F Is for Friend,” a book about how to make friends with a child with autism.
The puzzle pieces accompanied the chain-linked pledges, which hang on the walls of the lobby and declare the students’ intentions to be friendly with others.
