Levittown Students Compete in Math Madness

Story by Liz Sobel.

Fervor and excitement were in the air at Lee Road Elementary School in the Levittown School District as students throughout the school prepared for the first annual Math Madness competition.

Under the direction of math teacher Kelly DiPretoro, students rivaled for a winning spot in the finalist round of the competition by providing the answers to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems with speed and accuracy. The winners were crowned and photographed for the Math Wall of Fame.

Ms. DiPretoro explained that the competition took place in recognition of National Pi Day and to aid in the students’ learning of math facts. “The more you practice your math facts, the easier it will be for you to solve more advanced math problems in middle school and high school,” she told the students.

The Lee Road administration and staff would like to congratulate the kindergarten through third-grade winners and the fourth- and fifth-grade finalists and winners.
