Levittown Students Inducted Into National and World Languages Honor Society

Story by Liz Sobel.

A total of 73 Wisdom Lane Middle School students in the Levittown School District were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and 54 into the World Languages Honor Society in a joint ceremony held in the school’s auditorium.

Principal John Avena welcomed the parents and explained that their students were being invited into the National Junior Honor Society for having displayed outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship and service.

Those being inducted into the World Languages Honor Society have not only demonstrated the promotion of cross-cultural acceptance, tolerance and understanding, but have also achieved excellence in the study of Spanish, French and Italian.

“You have shown that you can not only work hard, but that you are respectful and can accomplish anything in your path,” stated Mr. Avena in his opening address.

The celebratory mood of the evening was enhanced by several musical performances by the chamber orchestra under the direction of David Pra.
After repeating the induction pledge, each new member of the society was called to the stage to receive a certificate commemorating his or her accomplishments.
