Levittowner Bobby Cassidy to Be Inducted Into NY Boxing Hall of Fame
Cassidy is included in the 2013 class, which also features boxer Jack Dempsey and promoter Bob Arum.

Levittown native Bobby Cassidy, a former professional boxer who fought between 1963 and 1980 and later starred in the Off Broadway play based on his career, will be inducted into the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday, April 28.
Cassidy is a lifelong resident of Levittown and a graduate of Division High School. He overcame an abusive step father and bouts with alcohol to become the number one rated light heavyweight in the world.
Cassidy went 59-16-3 in his career and once fought on the undercard of the Frazier-Ali II fight, and he later trained two champions of his own.
The play "Kid Shamrock," written by his son Bobby Cassidy Jr., premier on Off Broadway in 2011 and was an instant fan favorite because of its authenticity and realism. It was later turned into a documentary "Bobby Cassidy: Counterpuncher," which screened at the Shadow Box Film Festival in 2012.
Other inductees include heavyweight great Jack Dempsey, promoter Bob Arum, middleweight Joey Archer, Iran Barkley and Mark Breland, among others.
Cassidy will be inducted during a dinner on April 28. Tickets can be purchased for $150 per adult and $50 for children. Tickets are available to purchase at the Waterfront Crabhouse, located at 2-03 Borden Ave. in Long Island City, or by calling 718-729-4862.
