Nassau Mom Leaves 2 Young Kids In Car, Shops At Walmart: Cops
Police say two children, ages 3 and 9, were found in a vehicle parked in the fire lane outside a Walmart store.

LEVITTOWN, NY — A Bethpage woman has been arrested after police said she left two young children alone in a parked vehicle outside a Walmart store in Levittown. Police were called around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday after witnesses saw the kids inside a parked car in the fire lane at 3335 Hempstead Turnpike.
Patrol officers found a 3-year-old strapped into a car seat and a 9-year-old sitting in the back seat. The keys were in the ignition and the engine was running. The officers entered the vehicle through an unlocked door.
No one was hurt and both children were released to a family member.

About an hour after officers arrived, Erika Martinez, 29, of Central Avenue, returned to her vehicle after shopping and was arrested. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and was expected to appear in Hempstead court Wednesday.
