Nassau Police Report More Catalytic Converter Thefts
The theft of the car part is on the rise everywhere.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — The theft of catalytic converters from cars is on the rise across the country, and Nassau County is no exception.
A catalytic converter is part of a vehicle's exhaust system. It converts the engine exhaust to less hazardous gases, and uses valuable metals to do so. Catalytic converters can contain platinum, palladium or rhodium, which make them prime targets for thieves, since they can sell the metals for scrap.
The Nassau County Police Department reported these thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles for the week ending June 30.
