Rebuilt Levittown Police Booth To Improve Community Policing

The booth is meant to increase community policing and bring a modernized, professional workplace for police officers.

LEVITTOWN, NY — Officials have unveiled a revamped satellite police booth in Nassau County.

On Wednesday, Laura Curran, the Nassau County executive, and Patrick Ryder, commissioner of the Nassau County Police Department, announced the grand reopening of so-called "Police Booth C" on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Gardiners Avenue.

The booth was completely rebuilt and will act as a satellite office. It is aimed at increasing community policing and bring a modernized, professional workplace for police officers.

"This booth is going to serve the hardworking men and women of our police department, which I am not shy to say, is the best police department in the world," Curran said at the unveiling.

A couple booths are typically found in every precinct, Newsday reported. Officers can use them to file paperwork, saving them a trip to the precinct.
