GLEN COVE, NY — Former Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi is headed back to Congress. He was the projected winner by several outlets, including NBC News and CNN, of the special election to replace the disgraced Republican George Santos in the New York's 3rd District.

Suozzi defeated Mazi Pilip, the Nassau County Legislator in the heated race for the seat. With 69 percent of districts in, Suozzi had more than 70,000 votes to Pilip's 56,000 votes.

Pilip conceded during her brief remarks on CNN. "Yes, we lost," she said.
