LOUDONVILLE, NY — A new poll places a tight race in the special election to replace George Santos in Congress.

"The Newsday Siena Poll essentially has Mazi vs. Suozzi as a statistical dead heat," Pilip campaign manager Brian Devine said. "The momentum is clearly with Mazi, and we are confident that we will be victorious on Election Day, February 13th."

Third Congressional District respondents say if the presidential election was today, they would give former president Trump a five-point advantage over President Biden.

Among the Suozzi and Pilip race, the Democrat is seen by voters as the better choice to protect democracy, addressing the issue of abortion and determining aid for Ukraine, said Siena College Research Institute’s Director, Don Levy.

The pollster said Pilip is viewed as better on handling the influx of migrants and by a slim margin on establishing American policy towards the Israel-Hamas war.

Early voting concludes on Sunday and Election Day is Feb. 13.
