The Iraq War, 10 Years of Casualties: Levittown Feels its Touch

On 10th anniversary of Iraq War, Levittown remembers Daniel Fuentes.

The 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq began 10 years ago this week -- on March 19, 2003 -- and although officially "over," fighting continues with discouraging persistence.

By one count, the war is directly responsible for 189,000 deaths, not including those who died from hardship caused by the fighting.

Levittown resident Spc. Daniel Fuentes, 19, was killed in April 2007 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, deployed out of Fort Riley, KS.
Fuentes enlisted in the Army in 2005, three months after graduation from Island Trees High School.

Please consider leaving a note for the fallen soldier and his family.
