Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although these students will not continue in the 2013 competition for Merit Scholarship awards, being named a Commended Student recognizes that these seniors are among the top 5 percent of the students who entered the competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
