WEATHER ALERT: Winter Advisory Issued for Levittown

National Weather Service forecasting up to eight inches through Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Southern Nassau County, including Levittown, from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday as a nor'easter chugs towards Long Island.

The advisory warns that Southern Nassau County could be in for 2 to 4 inches of snow on Wednesday night and additional snowfall of 1 to 3 inches on Thursday evening as the storm is expected to impact the area twice.

Total storm accumulations for the area are expected to be 6 to 8 inches.

Winds and flooding continue to be major concerns as the storm lingers in the northeast and brings in powerful winds. Winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph, with gusts from 40 to 50 mph throughout the evening on the coastlines.

A Coastal Flood Advisory also remains in effect for the south shore, calling for tides 2 to 3 feet above normal. Waves along the Atlantic coastline are expected to breaking at 8 to 14 feet.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when periods of snow or freezing precipitation will make driving conditions difficult.
