
Labor Day is right around the corner on Monday, Sept. 2.
As we head into the three-day weekend, here's a list of closures and other changes that may affect you:
Government Offices
- All government and federal offices, including the post office, will be closed.Library
- The Levittown and Island Trees Library will be closed on Monday.Schools
- All schools are closed. Superintendent’s conference day will be held on Tuesday, and the first day of school for students is Wednesday, September 4.Businesses
- Most major retailers and grocery stores are open on Labor Day, but some smaller businesses may close for the weekend.
- Most banks will be closed. Bank of America (3161 Hempstead Turnpike) is closed.

Transportation
- The NICE (Nassau Inter-County Express) bus service will be running on a Sunday schedule. View routes online here.Sanitation
- Please note that there is no garbage or recycling pickup Monday. The town of Hempstead will be running on a holiday collection schedule.
