A house fire in Levittown badly damaged a home on Courtney Lane Wednesday afternoon, with a woman and her child inside the house managing to escape the blaze unharmed.
Nassau County Police and an emergency ambulance bureau AMT assisted the woman and child from the home, with the child transported to Nassau University Medical Center for evaluation.
The Bethpage and Hicksville Fire Departments were also called to the scene. Chief of the Department Christopher Behrens was in command of the operation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
