100 Kids Step Up To The Plate At Suffolk Sheriff's Baseball Clinic
The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office stepped up to the plate by hosting a free baseball clinic which around 100 children participated in.
COPIAGUE, NY — The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office stepped up to the plate for local children last month by hosting a free baseball clinic open to the community.
Around 100 children from participated in the June 21 clinic at Tanner Park in Copiague, hosted in conjunction with baseball organization Valor Sports.
The event introduced children ages 7 to 13 to the basics of baseball through two hours of lessons with NYS Hall of Famer Lou Bernardi and members of the Sheriff’s Office Softball Team.

"The participants were enthusiastic as they engaged in drills focused on throwing, catching and hitting the ball, while also learning the importance of sportsmanship," officials said in a statement.
After the clinic, Applebee’s provided a free BBQ for the children and their families. In addition, 7-Eleven donated beverages for the event to keep the participants hydrated.
