84: Get in the Holiday Spirit
Upcoming Lindenhurst Village and Babylon Town tree lighting ceremonies should help spread the holiday spirit.
Lindy is full of things to do, see and experience, and every other week Lindenhurst Patch will highlight one idea or activity you could check out right here in your hometown.
We’ll start at and count them down. Here’s number 84:
Get in the Holiday Spirit
The holiday season might kick off with a Thanksgiving feast followed by some serious shopping on Black Friday, gift buys at local Lindy shops on Small Business Saturday and online bargains on Cyber Monday.

However, nothing kick-starts the holiday season than a visit from Santa and a tree lighting ceremony. And to get everyone in the holiday spirit, there are two events coming up in Lindenhurst that are sure to do the trick.
The first is the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony sponsored by the Town of Babylon on at 6 p.m. at Town .

Supervisor and Suffolk County Executive-Elect Steve Bellone, Babylon Town officials and Santa Claus will be at town hall for the annual ceremony.
All town residents are invited to attend this holiday event, which will again feature gifts for children, costumed characters, musical entertainment and refreshments for everyone, according to town officials.
Later that weekend on Sunday, December 4, the and Visit from Santa will take place in the heart of Lindenhurst Village.
The festivities - which are sponsored by the village and the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce - will take place at Village Square, at the corner of East Hoffman and North Wellwood Avenues, beginning at 1 p.m. that day, with Santa stopping by to greet the kids between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Following Santa's visit village officials will light the tree.
There'll also be hot chocolate and cookies served to the crowd, as well as 300 goodie bags handed out for the children, according to Chamber officials.
Volunteers are also needed to help set the scene and the tree at 11:30 a.m. If any residents are interested, then they could contact Frank Garofalo at 516-313-7246 or frankl@garofalo.us.
