This Sunday, , Opera Night Long Island is coming to Lutheran Church on East John Street. It starts at 4 p.m., and there’s a $10 donation.
According to the music director of opera series, Isabella Eredita Johnson, the village was chosen as a location because of “a wealth of fine opera singers who come from Lindenhurst.”

In particular, Johnson said Lindenhurst's sopranos, Danielle Davis and Elizabeth Dow will be performing. Soprano Linda Garrity and tenor Jeffery Taveras might also perform.
“These Lindenhurst singers will be joining other fine singers from the Opera Night series,” she said.
The series began in 2004, according to Johnson’s blog, and performances have always been given in Northport on the first Friday of the month.
“This group has a large following in the Northport area, so this promises to be an entertaining afternoon for opera lovers and newcomers to opera, as well," she noted.
A second monthly Opera Night performance is now given in Oyster Bay on the third Sunday of the month.
And through the years Opera Night has met requests to perform at Walt Whitman and Tanger shopping malls, as well as in other Long Island towns, including Greenlawn, Huntington, Manhasset, Commack, Roslyn, Douglaston and now in Lindenhurst once again.
"This large body of professional operatic singers, plus their piano accompanist will present an entertaining assortment of vocal excerpts from famous and beloved operas,” Johnson said.
The purpose of Opera Night is “to foster the production and appreciation of opera and chamber music in the Long Island community,” she added on her blog.
So come out to the church on Sunday afternoon to support the operatic arts, and enjoy some local , too.
