Amityville Man Indicted On Attempted Murder Charge After Slashing Man's Neck With Knife: DA
Prosecutors say an Amityville man slashed a relative's neck and held another captive during a violent incident in September.
AMITYVILLE, NY — An Amityville man has been indicted on an attempted murder charge after he reportedly slashed a man's neck during an altercation at a home in September, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said Angelo Andrade, 49, went to a relative's Amityville residence on Sept. 21 and reportedly slashed the man's neck with a knife during a conversation, causing severe bleeding. Andrade then reportedly held another relative at knifepoint before both victims escaped and called 911, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
The slashing victim was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was treated, hospitalized and required a blood transfusion, the DA said. Police arrested Andrade near the scene shortly after, prosecutors said.

Andrade was arraigned on Oct. 21 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Steven Pilewski on charges of attempted murder, assault, false imprisonment and menacing, Tierney said.
Acting Supreme Court Justice Richard I. Horowitz ordered Andrade held on $250,000 cash, $750,000 bond or $1.5 million partially secured bond, the DA said. He is due back in court on Nov. 13 and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the top charge. Andrade is represented by attorney Michael Elbert.
