AMITYVILLE, NY — Amityville’s kindergartners became junior firefighters for a day during a recent field trip to the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center in Uniondale.

Students enrolled in Amityville School District's Summer Academic Success Program made the trip during the third week of the program.

In addition to learning fire safety, the students got to view a wide variety of fire apparatus from 1834 to present day.

The museum’s collection includes hand pulled carts, horse drawn steamers, ladder trucks, pumpers and tankers.
