Holiday Happenings: Contest, Concerts, Parties & Santa

Keep up with everything that's happening this holiday season in Lindenhurst with this weekly column.

The Lindenhurst community is home to numerous holiday traditions that residents enjoy year after year. It's also home to holiday fundraisers and gatherings in which residents are invited to participate.

  • Winter Story and Craft (CH)

Where/When: , December 13, 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: This promises to offers lots of winter fun for parents and their preschoolers, ages two to pre-K, with an adult.

Price: Free.

  • Winter Concerts

Where/When: and , December 13 to 15, 7 p.m.

Why Go: There are several Winter concerts happening at Schools this week. On grade seven will present its concert at the LMS. On the first of two high school holiday concerts will take place. Then on grade eight presents its concert at the middle school. All three concerts start at 7 p.m.

Where/When: , December 14, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Senior citizens from the will be bused to the high school to enjoy some good food and entertainment. Other seniors will also be heading there for a jolly good time put on by the students.

Where/When: , December 15, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: Paint a festive, over-the-door, wooden Santa Claus plaque using a one-stroke painting method.

Price: $15 per person, which includes materials and instruction.

Where/When: of Lindenhurst, December 16

Why Go: Get some face time with Mrs. Claus and the elves as they visit the school.

Where/When: , December 16, 4:15 p.m.

Why Go: Participants will read to children ages four to seven and assist them in making several crafts. Two hours of community service credit awarded. Grades six to 12.

  • : Exceptional Children Christmas Party

Where/When: Knights of Columbus-OLPH Council #794, December 17, 11 a.m.

Why Go: Bring your kids down to the K of C on South Broadway for a holiday good time. The Knights are also seeking some help on the floor to set up ahead of time, at 9 a.m.

Where/When: Loyal Order of Moose Lodge , December 17, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Here's a chance to mix and mingle to a jinglin' beat, as the song says. The LOOM will host this party featuring a buffet-style dinner served an hour after the doors open at 7 p.m.. Ther'll also be a cash bar, DJ and dancing.

Where/When: Loyal Order of Moose Lodge , December 18, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Here's another chance to see Santa this holiday season. This time residents could share a stack of pancakes with him. The LOOM will host the breakfast, and will include a gift for all children.

Price: Kids eat free, and for adults the meal cost is $5. Call 631-226-4364 for more details and to reserve a spot.

Where/When: , December 18, 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: This family holiday musical, presented by Plaza Theatrical Productions, is based on a Charles Dickens' classic: A Christmas Carol, which is the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a hard-hearted miser who hates Christmas and is visited by three ghosts.
