Babylon Town Resident Celebrates 102nd Birthday

One Town resident recently celebrated her 102nd birthday.

Mae Wong was born in Gibson, Georgia on March 24, 1910 and moved to North Babylon in 1995.

Mae was married to Chang Wong from Hong Kong and raised two children who were given to her by someone who was unable to raise them herself.

She was employed by Pennsylvania Railroad during WWII, and later worked as a presser in the garment industry until retirement in 1992.

An active member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Wyandanch, Mae sings in the gospel choir and is a member of the Spice of Life Senior Citizen Group.

Mae's also a pioneer of Wyandanch: She's one of the first seniors to join the Wyandanch Senior Citizen Nutrition Center run by the Town of Babylon.
