Children Have a Blast at Rotary's Snapper Derby

Rotary Club hosted first event in three years at the Lindenhurst Marina.

Written by Jackie Milton, Lindenhurst Rotary President.

The weather was just beautiful for the Annual Snapper Derby held Saturday, August 24 at the Lindenhurst Village Docks.

The children lined up to register and immediately "hit the docks" for three hours off fishing and fun. All the children had their eyes on winning one of the three bicycles for First Place prizes.

The children, along with their parents, had a wonderful time and the snappers this year seemed to be larger than in previous years.  We could not have asked for a more beautiful day for the Derby, the sun was shining and there was a nice breeze from off the bay.

Although the turn out was smaller than we had hoped for, this is the first time the Rotary has been able to hold the Snapper Derby in three years, due to rain storms one year and then Hurricane Irene which took out the docks for two years.

Everyone who attended had a wonderful time and we would like to thank all of the Sponsors who supported this years Snapper Derby, their support and contributions helped make this event a huge success!
