blew in and out of Lindenhurst at the end of August fairly quickly, but her effects last for days and weeks – especially when it came to power, phone, cable and Internet outages.

Many in Lindenhurst and North Lindenhurst were without power for days on end – like this Lindenhurst Patch editor; was out for five days, a day longer than after Gloria – and even when the power came back, they still had to wait to have the other services restored.
So Patch was wondering:
