Dog Rescued From Woman Accused Of Animal Cruelty: SPCA
A Shih Tzu-Poodle mix named Richard was rescued from an Amityville woman accused of animal cruelty, the Suffolk County SPCA says.
AMITYVILLE, NY — An Amityville woman was arrested on charges of animal cruelty on Oct. 23, the Suffolk County SPCA told Patch.
Carolyn Robinson, 59, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty, according to Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County SPCA.
After an "intensive investigation," detectives rescued Richard, a three-year-old male Shih Tzu-Poodle mix from Robinson, the SPCA said.

Richard was found with "severely matted" fur covered with fleas, patches of missing fur, and an open untreated wound, the SPCA said.
He was removed from Robinson's care and immediately taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

According to SPCA officials, Richard has already been adopted into a "loving family" and is "receiving the care and attention he needs."
Robinson is slated to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on Nov. 12, the SPCA said.
