Ex-Suffolk School Custodian Indicted On Sexual Abuse Charges: DA

The man was accused of filming himself sexually abusing a child and then sharing the videos and images, DA Raymond Tierney said.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A former Lindenhurst school district employee is facing charges after he was accused of filming himself sexually abusing a child and then sharing the videos and images, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said on Wednesday.

Brian Woehr, 40, was indicted on use of a child in a sexual performance as a sexually motivated felony, and several related charges, Tierney said.

"Beyond the horrific trauma of the sexual abuse itself, this defendant allegedly recorded these despicable acts and distributed that material to others," Tierney said in a news release. "Each view and share re-victimizes the child. This office remains steadfastly committed to holding accountable those who exploit and harm children."

On April 30, the Suffolk County Police Department Digital Forensics Unit received a tip from the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about multiple child sexual abuse images that had been uploaded via Google, investigators said.

A search warrant was executed at Woehr’s home that day, and he was found in possession of a cell phone, prosecutors said. Forensic analysis of the phone found that several of the videos and images that had been shared were produced by Woehr and depicted the sexual abuse of a child, authorities said.

Woehr previously worked as a custodian in the Lindenhurst School District, investigators said.

Woehr was arraigned Wednesday on charges of two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance as a sexually motivated felony; two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance; two counts of first-degree sexual abuse; 52 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child; 54 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child; and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, the DA said.

Woehr was ordered held on $1.5M cash, $5M bond or $15M partially-secured bond while his case pends. He is due back in court on June 20. He 15 years in prison if convicted on the top count.

He is being represented by Steve Fondulis.

"Anyone with any additional information regarding Woehr is being urged to contact the Suffolk County Digital Forensics Unit at 631-852-6279," the DA wrote.
