It's Presidents' Day, a federal holiday.

There are many closures, so here's what you need to know:

1. Government:

• LIRR: The Long Island Rail Road will run on a holiday schedule with some extra trains added - including one westbound and five eastbound trains on the Babylon Branch, which runs through Lindenhurst. Click here for details.
• Lindenhurst Village : Closed for the holiday
• Babylon Town : Closed for the holiday; Tuesday through Friday this week the Assessor’s office has extended hours for property owners who are turning in their applications for property tax exemptions, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until March 1 filing deadline, details
• Library: Closed for the holiday; Vacation Game Time for Winter Recess Week in Lindenhurst, Tuesday through Sunday, more details; Winter Reading Club (CH) (YA), till February 29
• Post Office: Most post offices will be closed, and there'll be no mail delivery for the holiday.

2. Schools:

• Schools: Closed for the holiday and Winter recess; check back with Lindenhurst Patch’s calendar for Lindy sports, next week; however there's one scheduled for the today, see below

3. Meetings:

• Knights of Columbus-OLPH Council : Retired Knights meeting, 12 p.m.; join the Motorcycle Club (fundraising), details

4. Sports:

• Lindenhurst American Little League: Registration is over, but parents could still sign up their children via appointment, details

5. Other items to note:

• Via @LIRRScoop: "New York State law prohibits smoking on all LIRR station platforms, boarding and ticketing areas. MTA PD will begin to enforce this law February 15."
