High School's "Shattered Dreams" Program Promotes Responsibility
Mock accident aims to educate students on the dangers of drunk driving.
The Lindenhurst High School student council dramatized the consequences of drinking and driving with “Shattered Dreams,” a program that promotes responsible decision making by high school students regarding drinking and driving.
This event includes a mock accident scene in which several students are seriously injured as a result of the decision to drink and drive. The dramatic reenactment behind the high school included a mock auto crash caused by drivers who drank.
The junior and senior classes looked on as various community entities, including local fire, police and EMS paramedics responded to the mock scene. This is the eleventh year the student council has presented the program.“The purpose of the program is to promote responsible decision-making,” said student council advisor Heidi Campbell.
