Hometown Heroes: Pastor, Wife Work Helping Others In Need

LINDENHURST, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Lori-Ann Novello who nominated Pastor Rick and his wife, Rita Mullins.

The two, who are from the Evangel Church of God on John Street in Lindenhurst, participate in so many different activities that "touch the lives of so many people in a positive way," according to Novello.

The couple both work helping others through running a food pantry, helping the homeless and planning wholesome family activities.

"They tirelessly work not only to be a spiritual comfort for residents but they also help empower and strengthen community services and other organizations," Novello wrote of the duo. "Without judgment Pastor Rick and his wife Rita are a gentle and kind presence in the community. On any day you will finding them feeding or bringing much needed necessities to our homeless."
