Police: Lindenhurst Woman Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint

A Lindenhurst woman was one of four people arrested for driving while intoxicated during a Suffolk County Police sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station early Sunday morning.

, 29, a Lindenhurst resident, was charged with DWI along with David Carvalho, 55, Elmhurst; Robert Lanza, 45, Ronkonkoma; and William Newman, 27, Centerport.

First, Second and Third Precinct officers, assisted by officers from the Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol, conducted a sobriety checkpoint at Route 110 and Church Street in Huntington Station early Sunday morning.

This operation, police said, was conducted for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with impaired driving.

A total of 176 vehicles passed through the checkpoint between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., and the four drivers, including Bethel, who were arrested, were held overnight for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on November 20, police said.
