Lindenhurst Class of 2013 Salutatorian: Josh Sposito

The class salutatorian will be heading to Georgetown University this fall.

When the Class of 2013 walks across the field at Lindenhurst Middle School for their graduation, class salutatorian Josh Sposito will be making a big speech in front of his friends, family and classmates.

The spotlight, however, is nothing new for the number-two ranked student at Lindenhurst High School.

"It felt great to be named the salutatorian," he told Patch. "It's certainly an honor that shows how hard work will always be worth it in the end."

But that speech, the trademark honor bestowed to the top two students during graduations, has made him feel butterflies.

"I am a little nervous about giving a speech at graduation, but I'm certainly looking forward to the opportunity," he said. "It's certainly an honor that shows how hard work will always be worth it in the end."

Sposito has held leadership positions as vice president of the Italian Club, treasurer of the Interact Club and served on Student Council in ninth and tenth grade. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has tutored fellow students for two years. In addition, Sposito has received the AP Scholar and TAL Awards.

Sposito has also served as the captain of the varsity tennis and bowling teams. In tennis, he received Most Valuable Player and All-League awards. In bowling, he earned Most Valuable Player for 3 years, All-County, All-State and a special Sportsmanship Award for his success at the 2013 New York State Bowling Tournament.

The class salutatorian will be heading to Georgetown University this fall, looking to study in the fields of business and finance.
