Suffolk High School Teacher Fatally Struck By Train: MTA
The social studies teacher was hit by a train in East Farmindale, the school district says.
LINDENHURST, NY — A man who was fatally struck by a train in East Farmingdale has been identified as a Lindenhurst teacher, an MTA spokesperson confirmed with Patch.
Stephen Gosline, 49, of Lindenhurst, who is listed as a high school social studies teacher on the district website, was hit by a train early Tuesday morning at the New Highway crossing, the district and the MTA said.
Gosline was also a volunteer firefighter with Breslau Engine Co.1.

The station posted a tribute to Gosline on Wednesday on social media.
"The members of Breslau Engine Co.1 regret to announce the untimely passing and tragic loss of Captain Stephen Gosline, son of Ex-Chief Al Gosline of the Liberty Hose Company No.1," the engine said. "He was truly a great friend, father, firefighter and officer. He will be missed dearly."
