LINDENHURST, NY —On Tuesday, those following and supporting the year-long struggle of a young Lindenhurst boy received a sad update that seven-year-old Dominik lost his battle with brain cancer. Dominik's mother Vicky Ramos owns Casa del Sabor in Lindenhurst, and she's kept the community updated on his ups and downs, via social media.
In June, a parade of ambulances and well-wishers accompanied the family home from the hospital as they brought Dominik home to hospice care.
In July, neighbors and friends hosted a fundraiser with the motto "Domstrong," an ode to Dominik's strength during his illness and his favorite superhero Iron Man.

"He endured so much pain during this time more than many will ever endure in their lifetime. Even through this rough time he was able to smile, play, laugh, sing and be happy. Even though we are extremely heartbroken there's a small sense of peace knowing he is pain and hospital free and just able to ride his bike in heaven. We know he was welcomed with open arms and will still be loved and looked after upstairs," Ramos said.
