Suffolk Woman Fatally Struck by Volunteer Firefighter's Car
The firefighter was answering a call when he struck a couple leaving a Long Island restaurant, killing 1 and seriously injuring the other.

LONG BEACH, NY – The woman who was struck and killed by a car driven by a volunteer firefighter responding to a house fire call in Long Beach early Saturday has been identified as 57-year-old Julia M. Morales, of Lindenhurst, Nassau Police said.
According to police, Morales and a 60-year-old man were walking across East Park Avenue after having just left the Half Moon Bar & Grill at 12:30 a.m., when they were hit by a 1999 Buick Century that was heading west on the road.
The driver of the Buick, a 22-year-old Long Beach Fire Department EMT, had a blue firelight activated on top of his car at the time of the crash, ABC 7 reported.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene. The man who was struck suffered multiple fractures, a broken spine and a lacerated kidney. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was listed in critical by stable condition. Police have not released his name or the name of the driver.
The investigation is ongoing, but no criminality is suspected.
