Lindy Resident Receives $1M Lottery Jackpot

A Lindenhurst man has been awarded a $1 million cash prize as a result of playing a New York Lottery scratch-off game.
Bruce Magistro, 44, of Lindenhurst, won the $1 million top prize on the Extreme Cash scratch-off game, according to New York Lottery officials.
New York Lottery honored him on Tuesday, March 13, along with eight other lucky winners from Suffolk and Nassau Counties, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island with a pre-Saint Patrick's Day celebration at Resorts World Casino New York City.

The festivities were led by New York Lottery's Yolanda Vega, and each winner received a special ceremonial Lottery check commemorating the upcoming holiday.
According to Lottery officials, Magistro used part of his winnings from another ticket to purchase his winning scratch-off ticket at .

The $1 million prize on the Extreme Cash ticket is paid as $50,000 a year for 20 years, said officials. Magistro will receive an annual net check totaling $33,090 through 2031, they noted.
Officials said that the father of three will use his Lottery windfall "to pay off the mortgage on the house and take a vacation to the Caribbean."
