LIRR IDs Woman in Escalator Death at Lindenhurst Station
Lindenhurst resident Irene Bernatzky was the 88-year-old woman who lost her life at the Lindenhurst train station on Tuesday afternoon, according to MTA LIRR officials.

A Lindenhurst resident has been identified by the MTA LIRR as the on the escalator serving the platform at Lindenhurst train station.
, 88, lost her life yesterday shortly before 2 p.m. after apparently falling on the escalator, an LIRR official said.
The same official said that the into the incident is continuing, and that the escalator remains out of service.

The official had no other information about Bernatzky, or the off-duty LIRR assistant conductor at the station who attempted to assist her at the time of the incident.
According to one report, Bernatzky was traveling alone, but the LIRR couldn't confirm that at presstime.
