Local Race Fights Breast Cancer
Third Annual Fit for Families 5K Run/Walk at Tanger Outlets to benefit Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition.
Lindenhurst residents looking for a way to raise awareness and funds during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month could take part in the Third Annual Fit for Families 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition.
It takes place Sunday, , at 8:30 a.m. at at The Arches in Deer Park, and there’s still time to sign up for the timed, 5K (3.1 mile) event.
“We're bringing our community together this Fall to promote and encourage a healthy, happy lifestyle and fight breast cancer,” according to the event page on the Tanger website. “Proceeds will benefit Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition.”

The BBCC is a non-profit volunteer organization with an office in Copiague located in the Town of . The BBCC is “dedicated to various breast and gynecological cancer concerns,” according to the website.
Founded in 1993 the BBCC “continues to be a grass-roots organization, providing an array of patient support services, education and advocacy programs,” according to the non-profit’s website. It focuses on five goals: prevention, research, education, services and support.

According to race organizers, the first 600 pre-registered participants will receive a race pack, which includes a commemorative race t-shirt, medal, Tanger shopping discounts and other goodies.
Prizes will be awarded to division winners, as well as the top three male and top three female winners. Attendees will also be entered to win various other prizes (must be present to win).
There’s also a tiered registration fee: adults, $20 pre-registration; children (12 and younger) $15 pre-registration; and day of race, $25 registration for all runners.

And if residents can’t make this race, then organizers said that there are 13 Tanger Outlet Centers total that’ll be holding Fit For Families 5K Run/Walk events in their communities.
