Pedestrian, 77, Dies After Being Struck By 2 Vehicles While Trying To Cross Montauk Highway: Police

A Lindenhurst man was struck by 2 vehicles Monday night, police say.

LINDENHURST, NY — A 77-year-old Lindenhurst man was killed Monday night after being struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross Montauk Highway, Suffolk County police said.

According to Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives, Kenneth Cook was crossing Montauk Highway from south to north between South Wellwood and Washington avenues at about 7:39 p.m. when he was hit by an eastbound 2021 BMW X5, police said.

Police said Cook was then struck by a westbound 2014 Ford Explorer.

Cook was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The BMW was driven by a man, 73, of Babylon, and the Ford Explorer was driven by a woman, 20, of Lindenhurst. Neither driver was injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. The investigation is continuing.
