LINDENHURST, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Ellen Conti, who nominated Lindenhurst resident, Bob Wetter.

According to Conti, Wetter collects food items all year round and supplies them to the Mercy Inn in Wyandanch.

He also runs special collections for school supplies in August and September, Thanksgiving boxes in November, Christmas food and gifts in December and holiday food drives in the spring.

In addition, he, along with his wife and kids make "blessing bags" to distribute to the homeless and needy.

"Tell Bob where there's a need and he'll take care of it," Conti wrote.

Thank you for all that you do Bob Wetter!
