Man Linked to Three Bank Heists Arrested in Lindenhurst

Suffolk Police picked up a Wading River man on East John Street Tuesday and charged him with three counts of robbery in connection with three bank heists.

A Wading River man allegedly responsible for three Long Island bank robberies was nabbed by Suffolk Police in Lindenhurst Tuesday.

Gabriel Rodriguez, 32, purportedly robbed a Teachers Federal Credit Union bank in Smithtown on May 24, a TD bank in Commack on May 25 and a TD bank in West Babylon on Montauk Highway on May 27, according to Suffolk County Police Major Case Investigations Unit detectives.

Police arrested Rodriguez on East John Street in Lindenhurst at approximately 1 p.m. on May 31, and charged him with three counts of robbery, third degree.

A description of the suspect who allegedly robbed the West Babylon TD Bank branch on May 27 was given to police following the incident at the scene, said the SCPD.

According to police following the May 27 heist, a man – described as a white or Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s, between five feet, seven inches and five feet, nine inches tall, 150 pounds, with dark hair – entered the bank on Montauk Highway at 4:15 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash.

The teller complied, and the suspect fled the scene in a taxi cab heading westbound on Montauk, police said.

According to the SCPD, the suspect was also described as wearing a white tank top, sunglasses, blue jeans, sneakers, a watch on his left wrist and a wooden-bead bracelet on his right wrist.
